Reese Beeton Obituary

Reese Melvin Beeton passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 4, 2024. He was born as the only child to Melvin Paul Beeton and Helen Knudson on July 15, 1936. He married the love of his life, Nancy Kay Ferry, 66 years ago on September 20, 1957. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple on April 10, 1964.

Reese was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and friend to all. He had a great sense of humor, and his one-liners are memories we will forever treasure. He loved history and was often referred to as a “walking encyclopedia”. He could carry on conversations about almost any topic which made him a joy to talk to; he said his two weak areas were ‘cars and brain surgery’. He could build or repair almost anything and used his creativity, knowledge, and skills in countless projects and in service to his family, friends, and anyone in need.

He was very involved in the community, serving on many boards in leadership positions. He was the longest serving member of the BE County Scuba Team where he served for 50 years. He was the President of the BC Jaycees, earning the Distinguished Service Award. He received the Modern Pioneer Award from the Sons of the Utah Pioneers. His love and knowledge of history benefited many from his detailed contributions to Museums, the Bird Refuge, and the Railroad archives. He also held the highest membership position in the NRA & as a Lifetime Endowed member. He served in his church as Elder’s Quorum & Sunday School Presidents, Scout Master, and Librarian.

Reese began his training as a Plumber at the age of 14. He became the youngest Journeyman Plumber in the state of Utah at the age of 21. He went on to own 2 businesses: Ember’s Fireplace Shoppe & Progressive Contractor’s Plumbing. He was a member of the Plumbers & Steamfitter’s Union and The Mechanical Contractors Association. He ended his career with O&M Plumbing and Heating, retiring after 45 years. He also served in the Navy Reserve for 8 years.

Reese was blessed throughout his life to have his “Band of Brothers” known at J & D’s Restaurant as “The Coffee Bunch”. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all who have known him.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Nancy, and his children: Brian Beeton of Brigham, Cindi (Tom) Johnson of Garland, Lezlee (Mike)Gorey of Cottonwood Heights, Russell (Deborah) Beeton of Orem, Mitch Beeton of Brigham, and Marci Beeton of Brigham.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin & Helen Beeton, Aunt: Wanda (Herb) Hampton, Cousins: Beverly Beeton, Rodney Beeton, Judy Beeton. In-Laws J.Y. & Alda Ferry, Donna (Bert) Cussimanio, Bonnie (John) Holmes, Miles (Suzy)Ferry, and Great Grandson, Jon Gabriel Bowen.
