Richard Thorne Obituary

Richard Leland Thorne, a compassionate, dedicated, and loyal man, passed away on April 11, 2024. He was born on November 17, 1974, in Ogden, UT a son of Richard Lee and Linda Gibbons Thorne. Richard lived a life full of love, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his family and friends. He was a supportive and gentle soul who treasured the simple joys of life. His kind and respectful nature, coupled with his radiant smile, warmed the hearts of all who knew him.

For 28 years, Richard was the loving and devoted husband of Dawnette Thorne. Their love story began when they worked together at Harmons and continued with their marriage in the Bountiful Temple on September 13, 1996, and blossomed into an extraordinary life together that was guided by Richard's unwavering dedication to Dawnette's happiness. Together, they created a life filled with love, laughter, and countless precious memories.

He cherished his relationship with his mother, sister, Melinda (Bob) Stoor, his mother-in-law, Jean Pifer and his nieces and nephews. His loyalty extended beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of his many friends and his beloved fur babies, Jazzie, Gracie and Teddy. It brings comfort to know that he has reunited with his Dad and his baby girls, Gracie and Jazzie.  He was also preceded in death by his father, sister, Ida and father-in-law, Richard Dodd.

Richard made a significant impact in his professional life as well. As an Academy Trainer at Walmart, he demonstrated his dedication and commitment, earning the respect of his colleagues. His supportive nature extended to the workplace, where he was known to lend a helping hand and encourage others. Despite his professional commitments, Richard always found time for his favorite pastime - fishing. Whether he was casting a line in the tranquil mountain waters or sharing fishing tales with his friends, Richard was happiest when he was near the water, rod in hand and the best catch of his life, Dawnette, sitting next to him. You could also catch him in front of the TV watching his beloved Denver Broncos, the Utah Jazz and the UConn Women's basketball team.

Richard's life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and loyalty. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and fishing lines.
