Richard "Dick" George Keindl

Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Richard George Keindl, 79, passed away on October 3, 2022 due to heart issues.

Dick was born April 26, 1943, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, along with his identical twin brother Ronald. He spent his formative years in Yonkers, New York, surrounded by many wonderful family members and friends.

In 1963, Dick enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was a proud Vietnam veteran. In 1969, he met the love of his life, Ann, at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. They married August 8, 1970, and moved to Syracuse, Utah in 1977. They both were very good bowlers; Dick bowled 11 perfect 300 games plus 3 800 3-game series, mostly in the era before bowling high scores became more common. In 1987, Dick was elected into the Ogden Bowling Association (NUUSBCA) Hall of Fame, and for decades, Ann and Dick were proud to be the longest-married couple in the Ogden Hall of Fame.

Dick got into the Information Technology industry in the early 1970s working on mainframe computers after graduating from Stevens-Henager College. He later learned to program in COBOL, FORTRAN, and Visual Basic programming languages. He started programming for Utah Power & Light in 1983 and retired from there. Later, he also programmed for the State of Utah and retired from there as well. Also, he reenlisted in the Air Force Reserve in 1985 as part of the 419th Fighter Wing. He medically retired from the USAF due to a heart condition many years later. He was very proud of his military service to our country.

Dick took an interest in his family members' activities, such as Cub Scouts, bowling, CCD (Sunday School), and Boy Scouts. He also loved to camp, fish, and swim. Dick also liked woodworking, a skill shared with his brothers, uncles, and father. He was a lifelong New York Yankees fan, a bond he shared especially with his son Eddie, as well as other Keindl family members. He was well-liked by those who knew him and had a great sense of humor. He loved rock 'n' roll music from the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Dick is survived by son, Doug (Pamela) of Seaside, CA; brothers, Ronald (Darcy) of Plant City, Florida; Roger (Cathy) of West Point, Utah; grandchildren, Logan and Megan of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and Andrew, Joseph, and Vivian of Seaside, California. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Ann (Luman) Keindl; son, Eddie; son, Nathan; father, John; and mother, Lillian.

Dick was an active and faithful member of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Layton, Utah, for 50 years. He was a Eucharistic Minister for many years at Saint Rose.

Dick's viewing will be held at Myers Mortuary, Layton, on Friday, October 14, from 6-7:00 P.M. From 7:00-8 P.M., the Rosary will be said in Dick's memory. Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Rose of Lima, Layton, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the Mass at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, Ogden.
