Rollo Peterson Obituary

Rollo Hadley Peterson, 81, passed away at his Ogden home on June 28, 2022.  He was born May 2, 1941, to Elias Spencer Peterson and Hazel Hadley.  He was the older brother of Anne Christensen and Ella Kelley.

Rollo was raised in Taylor and lived there all his life.  He attended Weber High School, Weber State College and Utah State University.  At 18, he joined the Utah Army National Guard with his lifelong friends Dennis Hansen and Lynn Wheeler.  At 19, he was called to serve a mission in Argentina, Buenos Aires.  After his return from Argentina, he met Kay Hall Marriott at the wedding of Dennis Hansen. They were lined up by her cousin John Marriott and later married in the Logan LDS Temple on July 16, 1965.  They would have celebrated 57 years of marriage in just a few more days.  He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

After attending college, Rollo taught Spanish and English at South Ogden Jr. High, North Ogden Jr. High and finished his 30-year career at Rocky Mountain Jr. High.  During his career at North Ogden, he gained many friends including the Aragon and  Longhurst families.  The Peterson family enjoyed camping with these friends often when all three families had young children.  Dad enjoyed cooking and experimenting with new “recipes” of his own creation.  He also enjoyed growing a large garden where his children learned to work.  He also enjoyed camping as often as possible with family and cousin Craig and wife Betsy in the Uinta Mountains.  He spent a good part of his time farming the Peterson land.  This gave his children a great opportunity to learn the value of hard work.  Rollo and Kay also enjoyed spending time with friends Dennis and Mary Hansen and Max and Melba Fredrickson.

Rollo was very proud of his 5 children and 12 grandchildren.  His children include Allyne Hall (Don), Douglas Peterson (Jennifer), Debbie Limb (Kevin), Mark Peterson (Dawn) and Krisan Seeley (Jeremy).  His grandchildren Spencer Limb, Ashlyn Petersen, Karli Stenberg, Alena Limb, Luke Seeley, Kayla Tracy, Dallin Peterson, Savannah Seeley, Nick Limb, Michael Tracy, Eli Seeley and Briggs Peterson will miss their Grandpa Peterson.

Rollo is survived by his wife Kay Marriott Peterson, his children, and his sister Anne Christensen.  He is preceded in death by his son Douglas Peterson and Doug’s wife Jennifer as well as his sister Ella Kelley and her husband Terry Kelley.
