Ronald Beck Lay, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022.
Ronald was born on August 10, 1942, to Howard K. Lay and Eva Beck Lay in Dunsmuir, California. He lived most of his life in Mt. Pleasant, Utah.
He attended Hamilton Elementary, North Sanpete Jr. High, North Sanpete High School, and Snow College. He married Joyce Edwards Lay, but later divorced. He graduated from LDS Seminary and served in the Southwest Indian Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Ronald also served in the US National Guard. He worked for Utah Power and Light for 33 years where he later retired.
Ronald loved being involved in sports as a participant and spectator. He played football, basketball, and baseball and loved cheering on his grandchildren and other family members in their many sports and activities. He also loved coaching sports teams for his sons.
Ronald loved golfing, fishing, hunting, boating, and camping. He was a great golfer and fisherman and challenged many to a friendly contest. His favorite pastime was spending time with family and his greatest joys in life was being with his sons and grandchildren.
Ronald’s friendly and funny personality will never be forgotten. He was best known for the cutest wink he gave to all. He shared his loving personality, sense of humor, and kindness to his family and loved ones until his last day in mortality.
He is survived by his three sons; Shawn Lay, Darin (Lori) Lay, Mitchell (Kami) Lay; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law; Marian (Lee) Schoonover, Paula (Verl) Bright, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, and brother-in-law, Don and Sandra Carter, a niece, and great-nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at the Mt. Pleasant LDS Church, 100 South State Street. Friends may call at Myer’s Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 N., Roy, Utah on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. and at the Mt. Pleasant LDS Church on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
