Russell Elliott Francis 1940-2023, recently of Meadow Vista, California, returned to his Heavenly Father after a year-long illness from complications related to Covid, on April, 23, 2023. Russ was born in Ogden, Utah to Eva Merrill and Lester Francis, and lived in Morgan, Utah until high school, when the family moved to Ogden. He had three brothers and one sister, Merrill, Marlene(L), Rex and Max(L). Russ served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He worked for White Motor Company and Parker Hannifin Corporation until he retired.
Russ married Marla Heiner (Micki) on November 4, 1967 in Ogden, Utah, and were later sealed in the Ogden, Utah LDS Temple. Russ and Micki were active in Round & Square Dancing for many years in the Ogden and Salt Lake Area. Micki, at 52, returned to her Father in Heaven September 1, 1996 after a battle with liver cancer. They had five daughters, one son and 12 grandchildren.
In 1997, Russ married Judy Thompson. Russ loved being a Round Dance Cuer and he and Judy taught Round Dancing in Ogden, until he retired from cueing in in 2012.
They lived in Layton from 1997 to 2014 when they moved to Meadow Vista California. During their time in Layton, Christine Stoll, Russ’s oldest daughter, who lived with them, returned to her Heavenly Father after a short illness.
Russ is survived by five children, four daughters, Eva Jill Birrer of California, Mrs. Randy (Jan) Stephens of Roy; Mrs. Rick (Sonja) Belnap of Roy; Mrs. Todd (Monica) Kelly of Sunset, and one son, Brian Francis of Sunset. He also has a number of grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife, Judy; stepdaughter, Janel; and grandson, Ryan Hilbert.
Grave side services will be held at Clearfield City Cemetery, on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Micki. Friends and family may gather prior to services at Myers Mortuary, 250 North Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
