Samuel James Noriega, 64, passed away September 23, 2022. He was born May 23, 1958 in Ogden, Utah to James and Lavon Noriega. He attended Ben Lomond High School and the Ogden/Weber ATC.
Samuel married Tami Leigh Moreno on June 9, 1978 in Elko, NV and they have been married for 44 years. They are the parents of 6 children.
Samuel enjoyed doing yard work, planting flowers and growing vegetables. He loved attending sports events, football, basketball, especially watching his grandkids in their sporting events. He loved playing golf and watching golf, and fishing along the Ogden River. He loved trips to Wendover with his family, camping, and strawberry ice cream. He was an amazing cook, everyone loved his Menudo. He loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Samuel is survived by his wife, Tami; children, MacKenzie, Shannon, Josh (Maryam), Ashley (Brody) Bain, Tyson, and Jordan; 14 grandchildren; nieces and nephews; 3 fur babies, Georgie, Baby, and Nova; sisters, Josephine (Eddie) Valdez, Jenny Sanchez, Linda Garcia; brothers, Steve (Mary), Thomas (Phyllis), and Mike; brothers and sisters in law, Mario (Veronica) Moreno, Dawn (Ed) Valdez, Lorraine (Kerry) Lemons, Richard Moreno. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Lisa Aleman, Kathy Randall, and Faye Noriega; brothers-in-law, Joe Randall and Ronnie Garcia, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Special thanks to Canyon Hospice, Huntsman Cancer BMT Unit, Kasey from Canyon Hospice, and the nurses and doctors from BMT Unit. A special thank you to Justin Valdez for being Uncle Sam’s Godfather. And a big thank you to family, friends, and neighbors who were there and supported us through Sam’s cancer journey the last 10 years.
Funeral Mass for Samuel will be held Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 495 N. Harrison Blvd., Ogden, UT with a viewing held prior to services from 10:00 to 10:35 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 10:35.
Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, UT.
