Shane Cox Obituary

Shane Michael Cox, age 43, was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to all. He
joined his mother in Heaven on February 8, 2021. Shane was born in Long Beach, California to
Gerry Lynn Moore and James Allen Cox. He grew up in Southern California with his big brother,
Jimmy.
Later in life, Shane reconnected with the “Little Mormon Girl” next door that used to play
football with him in the alley. They fell in love and he married Erica on Friday, January 13, 2017
in Ogden, Utah. He became a stepfather to two wonderful girls, Makayla and Addysen
(Dingleberry), and then he was promoted to daddy to our son, Ayden, on March 19, 2019.
Shane was a remarkable man. Those who know him knew he was kind, funny, sarcastic, and
loved his family and friends fiercely. He absolutely loved weight training and loved teaching and
helping anyone who wanted to learn the ins and outs of physical fitness. He was obsessed with
all things Marvel and D.C. He would go the rounds with you if you said that Batman was better
than Superman. And oh, by the way, Superman is better.
He and his “bonus daughter,” Addy, spent hours watching Friends together and he could tell you
exactly which episode any line from any character came from. He loved pranking and harassing
Erica’s siblings (all 27 of them—just kidding only 10).
He helped so many people through their struggles, and was always there to help others at a
moment’s notice, whether it was to listen or talk through a hard time, or to just be there;
whether friends, family, or strangers. Shane overcame many obstacles in his own life, and that
made him the amazing man that he was, and why he strived to help in all he could. We just
wish he saw how loved he was by so many people and how many lives he helped and touched
along the way.
Shane will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He was preceded in death by his
mom, Gerry Lynn Moore. He is survived by his wife, Erica Dawn (Ralph) Cox; stepdaughters
Makayla and Addy; his son Ayden; his brother Jimmy Cox (Terra); nieces Rachel and Courtney;
his father James Cox; and lots of brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as other extended family.
