Shauna Lynn (Stoddard) Gellis

August 12, 1954 ~ November 17, 2021 (age 67)

On November 17, 2021, Shauna passed away unexpectedly after a brief struggle with pneumonia.  Shauna was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, neighbor, and friend.

Shauna is survived by her daughter Rachel Smith, granddaughters Zoe Smith and Amanda Sims-Maughn, her sons Daniel Gellis and Matthew Gellis, grandchildren Josh, Ben, Isaac, and Madison, her mother Thelma Stoddard (Law), her brothers Ki Stoddard, Nyle Stoddard, Theron Stoddard and Michael Stoddard, and her sisters Shellie Stoddard-Kenworthy and Teresa Stoddard.  Shauna is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family relatives as well.

Shauna was the epitome of strength, resilience, determination, kindness, compassion, joy, gratitude, and unconditional love.  She loved to laugh and radiated her positivity to all those she came in contact with, regardless of her own lifelong battles and challenges.  Not a day passed where Shauna did not find small joys or things for which she could be grateful.  If you knew Shauna, in any capacity, your life was better because of it.  Her absence in this world leaves a void that cannot be filled.

Shauna and her daughter Rachel, and granddaughter, Zoe, were a force to be reckoned with.  The bond shared between the three of them was incomparable.  From late night drives, movie nights, going out to eat, creating funny photos and videos via social media, or simply staying home - there was no shortage of love and laughter.

Shauna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, most recently as a part of the Brigham City 7th Ward.  Each month she was in charge of the monthly church newsletter, which she prepared with eagerness and care.  Shauna had recently received an additional calling in the church as well, which she likewise fulfilled with dedication.

Shauna loved her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ with every fiber of her being.  Her testimony in the gospel was steadfast and unshakeable.  Shauna never judged others or made them feel unworthy or unloved, but instead had a way of making everyone from all walks of life feel accepted and worthy.  She was truly Christ-like in action and word.

Shauna was a true Patriot - a champion of the Constitution of the United States and the divinely inspired freedoms and liberties within.  She had a love of learning that was unmatched, and she would say that her books were her best friends.  Shauna’s writing skills and knowledge of the English language were impeccable, and she used these skills as a freelance editor and proofreader right up to her passing.

Shauna loved nature - most notably oceans, beaches, mountains, rain and thunderstorms.  Her favorite seasons were Spring and Fall and she loved bright colors - with Blue, Orange, Purple and Red being among her favorites.  Shauna loved all animals, but more specifically, she loved elephants, lions, otters, dogs, her 3 cats - Oshi, Keiko, and Wintah and her 2 grandcats - Chaos and Po.

Shauna loved music of all genres and her knowledge pertaining to all things music related was incredible.  She played the guitar and the violin at different points in her life, and she wrote numerous songs for her children that were never published.  Shauna truly believed in the healing power of music.  She could always be heard singing and humming along to songs, playing music on her tv/phone/stereo, and even playing air guitar to her favorite rock songs.

A viewing and funeral service will be held as a celebration of her life and her impact on others.

Services will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Myers Mortuary located at 205 S. 100 E. Brigham City, UT 84302.  The schedule will be as follows:

As discussed on numerous occasions prior to her passing, Shauna’s wishes were that her funeral services not be somber and filled with sorrow, nor defined by traditional “black” funeral attire.  Shauna expressed a desire for people to celebrate her life and memories shared with her individually, by wearing shades of Orange, Blue, and Purple.  PLEASE help us fulfill Shauna’s last request by adding any - or ALL of these colors to your funeral service attire!!!
