Spencer Newell Malan, affectionately known as Spence, was a loyal, compassionate, witty, and supportive husband, son, brother, and friend. Born in Ogden, UT, on October 9, 1990, Spencer brought joy and love to everyone he encountered. He passed away on May 23, 2023, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy of kindness and laughter. Spencer made a lasting impact on the lives of everyone he encountered.
Throughout his life, Spencer pursued his passions with enthusiasm and vigor. Spencer graduated from Weber High School and received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice at Weber State University. He served for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Costa Rica San Jose Mission. Currently he was employed with PacifiCorp as a security monitoring specialist. In his free time, he loved UFC, longboarding, Pokémon, soccer, golf, watching sports and just hanging out with his wife and friends. He had a zest for life and a love for competition.
He married Rachel Powell on October 1, 2022.
Spencer is survived by his loving wife, Rachel, her children, Eloise and Alexander Andrews, his mother and father, Allyn and Mark Malan, his sisters, Samantha (Creighton) Shumway, Alexis (Trevor) Corbett, and Makenzie (Jake) Allred ; grandmother, Diane Malan and five nieces and nephews with one on the way. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Tracy and Patrick Powell.
A celebration of Spencer's life will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Coldwater Stake Center, located at 770 East 2100 North, North Ogden, Utah, 84414, where a viewing will be held prior to the service on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 am. We invite you to join us in honoring and remembering his life.
