Stanley Florence Obituary

Stanley Keith Florence passed away peacefully at his home on February 1, 2023. He was 92 years old. He was born in Ogden Utah in 1930. Stan was the third (and in his opinion, the most handsome) son of Leland Henry Florence and Martha Goldie Brian Florence.

Stan went to Polk Elementary, Central Middle school, and graduated from Ogden High School in 1948. He attended Weber college for two years.

Stan enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War in November 1950. During his four-year service, he worked as an aircraft radar technician on many different types of fighter and bomber aircraft. Stan quickly rose in leadership rank, leaving service as a Staff Sergeant.

His work ethic was always evident. While serving in the USAF, he co-founded a small electronic repair business and maintained that interest and business for many years. After his service in the USAF, he was employed as a civil servant at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. He held many positions while employed and retired in 1985 as a Program Manager of the F-4 Fighter jets.

Subsequently, Stan started Aerospace Engineering and Support, in the Ogden Industrial Park which he managed for over 31 years. He was adored and admired by the employees who worked with him. He will always be remembered as a kind and generous owner and operator of AES.

A passion for nature sustained Stan from his youth until the last days of his life. His family cherishes memories of long drives with him into the mountains where Stan was an expert at sighting wildlife.  Some of his favorite places include Christmas Meadows retreat and Yellowstone National Park.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many positions which included , Scout Master, Teacher, Ward Clerk, Executive Secretary, Sunday School President, Elder and High Priest Group Presidencies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joseph and Leland, a daughter Shauna Dee Florence Bland and a son James K. Florence.

Stan is survived by his wife Karen Ames Florence, son’s Jeffrey (Melody) Florence, Daniel S. (Summer) Florence, Alex S.
