Stephen Burton Obituary

Stephen Wright Burton, 81, passed away with family near his side, on March 18,2020.  He was born March 11, 1939 to Walton R Burton and Melba C Wright.  He graduated from Ogden High School and took some classes from Weber State College.  He married Carol Lynne Hislop in October 1959 and together they had 5 children:  Teri (Scott deceased) Coffey, Ogden; Kevin (Patty) Burton, Saint George; Jill (David) Hill, Harrisville; Jennifer (Devin) Smith, West Haven; Lacey (Adrian) Allen, Ogden.  They were later divorced but both remained close to their children.

He married Barbara Crosbie Wilson in 1982.  Together they shared 10 children, 31 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.  Barbara passed away in July 2004.

Steve loved to sing and sang with many ward and stake choirs.  He very much enjoyed the years he sang with the Octet, Sound Choice.  Steve also loved the outdoors. He loved to golf with family, to garden and camp.  He had a knack for electronic repairs and he enjoyed tearing things apart, fixing them and then putting them back together again. He enjoyed home repairs and remodels.

Steve retired from Hill Air Force Base.

Steve was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a firm testimony.  He held many positions in the church but his favorite was that of Ward and Stake missionary. It gave him the opportunity to share of his testimony.

In Steve’s later years, he met and married Barbara “Ann” Wilder.  She made him happy and he loved her dearly.  They had only a short 19 months together.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Ann.  They shared 8 children plus spouses together.  Steve’s 5 children listed above plus Ann’s children, Debra (Bruce) Hanson; Cory (Robyn) Wilder; Lynette (Greg) Neff.  All together there are 27 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lotus Park for their tender loving care of Dad.  A big thanks to Kristi and Lilly from Brio along with Dr. Gary Holland for the tender way they made Dad feel loved and cared for. Dad would also want to thank his friend Dr. Grant Holland for the many years he kept his heart going.
