Sue Ann (Child) Nielson

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Sue Ann Child Nielson, passed away at the age of 71, peacefully in the early morning hours of February 17, 2023. 

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Sue Ann was born to Eloise and Howard Child on June 29, 1951 in Ogden, Utah. She was one of five children in the family.  She spent her youth in California and Utah.  She graduated from Clearfield High and studied at LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She married Frank Nielson in 1975. They had one son, Nels Nielson, and later divorced. Sue Ann was a single mom to Nels and did all she could to make ends meet. She had various positions of employment and was later able to have a career with the IRS, where she retired after 25 years of service. 

Sue Ann had a close connection with her mom.  They enjoyed making crafts, shopping, and doing genealogy work together. 

Sue Ann was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ where she served and held many positions.  Her faith brought her comfort and she found much peace in the temple work she performed. 

Sue Ann was a loving mother to her son and supported him in schooling, sports, and scouts.  In her later years she found much joy in supporting her only grandson, Gabe Nielson, in all his sporting endeavors from Kung Fu to Hockey. 

She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She participated in many activities at the Clearfield Senior Center.

Sue Ann had many friends that were near and dear to her and brought joy to her, especially in her later years.

Sue Ann is survived by her son, Nels Nielson and daughter-in-law Susannah Nielson of Pleasant Grove, Utah and her grandson, Gabriel Nielson of West Valley, Utah. Sue Ann is also survived by her brothers, Lynn Child of Brigham City, Utah, Leonard Child of Ogden, Utah, Charlie Child of Clearfield, Utah, and Howard Child of Cedar City, Utah. 

A viewing will be held February 23, 2023, 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will held on February 24, 2023, 11:00 am, with a viewing prior from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Myers Mortuary at 5865 S. 1900 W. Roy, Utah. The burial will take place at the Roy City Cemetery following the funeral service.
