Thayne Stanger Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of Thayne Jenkins Stanger on January 28, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loved ones after several years of illness. Thayne was born in Ogden, Utah to LaVor Stanger and Meriam Jenkins Stanger. He was the oldest of six children and is preceded in death by his son Tyler, sister Connie Winnie and brother Michael Stanger. He is survived by his wife Victoria and his brothers, Winn (Blanche), Don (Robyn) and Bud (Jan). He is the proud father of Travis, Brandon, Tyler, Khali, Cameron, Ariann and Cody.

Thayne grew up in Ogden, graduated from Ogden High in 1967 and Weber State University in 1972.  He married Judy Pond while attending Weber State and they had Travis. After their divorce, he married Victoria and together they just celebrated 47 years.

Thayne was always a very hard worker. He started working at a young age delivering newspapers for the Salt Lake Tribune. During high school he worked as a mechanic for Bud's Service Station and Carl's Service Station. He worked 48 years for Utility Trailer. He started in the paint booth and eventually became the plant superintendent in Clearfield, Utah. He moved to California to be the plant manager at City of Industry. He later managed all the plants, the Tautliner division, eventually retiring as the general manager of the Fontana Dealership. In retirement he moved to Clinton, Utah to be closer to his children, grandchildren, and his brothers.

Thayne was an excellent athlete and played baseball and softball for many years.  He was an avid water skier, snow skier and learned to be a very skilled rock climber. He spent over 30 years in scouting serving as a scoutmaster for much of that time. He loved his scouts and spent over 300 days camping with them over the years. All of his sons received their Eagle Scout Awards and all attended a trek at Philmont. He was an excellent example to his children, brothers and sister and his scouts as a man of integrity, hard work and "can do attitude". He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Thayne knew and loved his Savior. He was welcomed into the open arms of his son Tyler, his parents and his grandparents. He will be missed but never forgotten by those who knew and loved him.

Everyone is welcome to join the family for any of the events below in Mountain Standard Time.
