Obituary

Virginia Randall Rozynek

North Ogden – Virginia Randall Rozynek, age 90, died April 17, 2009. She was born March 18, 1919 in Ogden, Utah to John William and Beatrice Pingree Randall. She grew up in the Five Points area. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1937.

She graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in 1941, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. It was at Utah State that this proud Aggie met her future husband. She taught at North Cache and Ogden High schools until her marriage.

She married Lt. William S. “Bill” Rozynek, USMC, on April 17, 1943 at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, prior to his service in the Pacific for two years during WWII. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on October 27, 1961. They enjoyed dancing, traveling, and spending time out on their deck together. He died November 20, 2001. Virginia and Bill were reunited on their 66th wedding anniversary.

Since her husband was a forester for the USFS, they lived at several ranger stations in Idaho and Utah. She was a member of Pine Tree, a Forest Service wives’ organization.

Virginia was an active member of the LDS Church, having served in various positions. She served many years in Relief Society in presidencies, twice as president, and on two stake boards. She served nine years in the Ogden LDS Temple Baptistry. She also served a stake mission with her husband.

Virginia lovingly served others and was an angel mom and grandma and a friend to all.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul William Randall; her parents, and her husband.

She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Daley of Chehalis, WA and Melinda (Bryce) Larsen of North Ogden; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth A. “Kay” (Jerrie) Randall of Williamsburg, VA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Pleasant View 2nd Ward, 250 W. Elberta Drive. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 22nd from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden and on Thursday at the church from 1 to 1:45 p.m.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be made to Primary Children’s Medical Center or the Perpetual Education Fund.

The family wishes to thank the many friends, neighbors, and ward members who have shown special love to Virginia for many years, as well as those who helped care for her either privately or from the following: IHC, Applegate Homecare and Hospice, Comfort Keepers, “Let’s Play!”, and Emeritus Estates.
