Walter Duarte Obituary

Walter Joseph Duarte, 62, of Layton Utah, passed away on March 22, 2024 after a very unexpected heart attack.

Walter was born on October 11, 1961 to Walt Duarte and Prunella Jenna in Castro Valley. Walter went on to graduate from James Logan High School in 1979.

In 1984 he met and fell in love with Laura. They were married in June 1985 and from that day he was so proud to be Anthony and Lydia’s dad. A few years later Walt and Laura’s family grew adding Walter and Kalana. He officially had his own sports team. Some time later Walt and Ann met and he become a dad again. He was so beyond happy to have two new additions to team Duarte, little Edward and Jared. He made sure to teach them the Duarte way, which was Raiders, Warriors and A's. Walter was a wonderful and devoted father, and coach. He always taught us to keep trying and supported us all throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties of our lives. When Walter wasn't working, he could be found coaching, watching Nascar or doing some sports activity with his family. An avid athlete, Walter dedicated much of his time to teaching kiddos how to be a good sport and never give up.

Walter was preceded in death by Walter Duarte & Prunella Jenna. He is survived by his siblings, Michelle Valenzuela, Lisa Trotman, Lisa Buserwini, and Gary Buserwini; his children, Anthony Duarte & Christina Ray, Lydia & Albert McCoy, Walter & Toemesh Duarte, Kalana Duarte & Marcos Reyes, Edward Duarte, and Jared Duarte; and 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren he loved immensely.
