William Byrum Obituary

Our beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully on June 02, 2022 at the ripe old age of 89.

William Dean Byrum son of Elmo  and Dora Velia Byrum of Whitehouse Tx  was born on October 11,  1932 in Tyler, Tx where he attended Whitehouse High School. He was active in sports and was loved by all. His friends nicknamed him Daniel from his huge heart and passion for life.  He enlisted in the USAF and was stationed at Keesler Air Base in Biloxi Mississippi. He attended trade school and learned electronics and Radar. He transferred to the supply squadron until his enlistment term ended.

He was an avid Baseball player, played with the Air Force local teams and aspired to play professionally. In 1955 while on shore leave he met a gal at a local car hop and he fell in love. He married  Carolee Ann Blunt on April 22,1955 at her Parents home in Gulfport Mississippi. Following his honorable discharge in July 1955 he learned many trades which served him well in raising and providing for his family. Together they lived in various locations throughout LA, MS and Texas. He made many sacrifices for his family which included moving away from his family to Elsie Michigan where he worked for Michigan Dairies as well as privately ran a flooring business. In spring 1976 the family settled in Layton Utah. He retired from Western General Dairies. His beloved wife passed away in 2002 and he thought he would spend his remaining days alone. He reconnected with his old high school friend Sue Underdown and later moved back to Whitehouse where they lived until her passing on Feb 6, 2013. Following her death he returned to Utah to spend his final years with his kids and grandkids.

Dean was preceded in death by both parents, his eldest brother Emory; sisters Nancy Reel, Corene Cain, and Mattie Fay Harris as well as two sons Arthur and Elmer Byrum and grandson Brian Warren.

Dean is survived by his sister, Nina McGill, McKinley Texas; son Chris Byrum, Layton Ut; daughters Dena Warren, Ogden Utah and Gaylene (Blake) Johnson of Mesquite Nevada.  He also leaves behind his greatest treasures: 9 grandkids and 16 1/2 Great grandchildren.
