William "Bill" Jackson III Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William C. Jackson, affectionately known as "Bill," on June 3, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born in Honolulu, HI on June 24, 1934, Bill led a life filled with love, laughter, and service. He was a reliable, generous, humble, and funny man who left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him. His devotion to his family, faith, and country defined his character and guided his actions throughout his life.

Bill's journey took him from his birthplace in Honolulu, to Washington D.C., Florida, and California before settling down in Ogden, Utah. He married his beloved wife, Maureen, on July 9, 1960, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1961. Together they raised five wonderful children: Ron, Tauni, Linda, Mike and Rich. Bill was a dedicated husband and father, who always put his family first. He was known as the "World's Best Dad," a title he wore with pride and joy. Bill loved teaching and teasing his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In his professional life, Bill served as a Procurement Officer at Hill Air Force Base, where he was highly respected by his colleagues. He served as a Lt. Colonel and Green Beret-Special Forces in the U.S. Army. He was a proud veteran who received the Korean Service Medal, honoring his commitment to his country. In his spare time, he was an avid reader, a history buff, and the go-to guy for Trivial Pursuit. Bill loved taking long walks and had a keen interest in the stock market. He was also deeply involved in his church, serving as a Ward Clerk and lovingly teaching and serving in the nursery and scouting programs.

Bill is survived by his wife, Maureen Jackson; his children, Ron Jackson, Tauni (Dennis) Singleton, Linda (Shawn) Smith, Mike (Barbara) Jackson and Rich (Heidi) Jackson; 20 grandchildren 33 great-grandchildren with one on the way and his siblings Eileen (Robert) Anderson, Jerome Jackson and Rodney (Anna) Jackson.
