William "Bill" Slocum Obituary

We celebrate the life of William "Bill" Slocum who was born on November 24, 1943 in Ogden, UT, USA, and was called home on January 27, 2024. A dedicated, loving, funny, and supportive individual, William was a pillar of strength and love for his family and community. His love for God and service to his country, as a proud member of the US Army, was a shining example of his unwavering dedication. His infectious humor and loving nature, combined with his deep love for family and friends, made every moment spent with him truly special.

William was passionate about his hobbies, which included fishing, hunting, camping, and building models, and he found joy in nurturing his talents. His achievements in the army were remarkable, earning him three "The Army of Achievement Medals", a Certificate of Achievement from the 6th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery, and a California Department of Corrections Peace Officers Training Certificate. His work ethic and integrity were unparalleled, qualities that he treasured and upheld until his retirement in 1989. As a Deacon, William lived his faith in the service of others, reflecting the words of 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

William is survived by his son Todd Berzett, sister Rhea Lewis, grandchildren Johny (Courtney) Berzett, Laticha Coleman, Denzial Coleman, nephews Antwane Yancy, Troy Yancy, and his great-grandchildren Dominic Berzett, Elijah Berzett, Keira Berzett, and Ashley Berzett. He was preceded in death by his father James Haith, mother Marian Slocum, wife Neva Slocum, daughter Rebecca Slocum, brother Gary Spicer, and daughter-in-law Joann Berzett.
