Calvin Lee Buttars, 82, passed away peacefully at home, March 11, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born March 10,1936 in Clarkston, Utah to Leonard and Sarah Buttars. He was a hardworking family man with an appreciation for life. He was drafted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He met Asnath Frenzel and they were married in 1960, they had 11 children, they were later divorced. He then met and married Renate Orr on December 20, 1986 in the Salt Lake Temple, they were married for 32 wonderful years and Calvin was her rock.

Calvin worked as an Office Equipment Technician until his retirement. He had many hobbies that he shared with others; wood working, gardening and genealogy were among his favorites. Calvin was a great handyman and could fix just about anything. He spent many hours using his talents and enjoyed serving and helping others. He loved the outdoors, you could always find him out in his garden, it was one of his pride and joys.

Calvin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Northwest States Mission and faithfully served in many other callings in his Ward and Stake. He and his wife Renate served an LDS inner city mission in the Ogden area. He served in the Ogden Temple up until his death.

Calvin’s passion was genealogy. He was a Supervisor at the Ogden Family History Center and spent many hours helping and teaching others about genealogy. He leaves behind his wife, Renate and a legacy of 13 children; 39 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, with more on the way. He is survived also by two sisters Esther Thompson and Norma Rollins and a brother Norris Buttars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Dick Buttars and sister Maureen Godfrey and son Chris Orr.

The family would like to give a “Special Thanks” to Access Hospice Home Health who treated our father and husband with love, respect, and dignity during this time.
