Robert William Holmes was born February 17, 1932 in Wilson, Utah to Joseph and Beulah Holmes, the third of four children. He passed away on April 12, 2018 in West Haven, Utah.

He attended Wilson School and graduated from Weber High School. Bob served his country in the US Navy on the USS Boxer during the Korean conflict. He graduated with a Master’s degree from Utah State University.

On July 17, 1953 Bob married his sweetheart Dorothy Lou Bates in the Logan LDS Temple. Bob and Dorothy had five daughters and 4 sons-in-law who loved him dearly. He was especially proud of his family. Bob taught Industrial Arts and Math at Roy Jr High and Sunset Jr High for 35 years. He was a General Contractor, a talented builder, and made beautiful woodwork.

Bob and Dorothy worked hard together and were instrumental in the incorporation of Wilson into its own city, West Haven. He served as the first mayor of West Haven and then served as the chairman of the West Haven Special Service District and trusted advisor until his death. In 2008, he was honored to be the Grand Marshall in the West Haven Days parade.

Their yard, garden, and pig farm were a source of pride and joy. They often gave their crops freely to friends and neighbors. They loved to attend the theater, enjoyed long car rides, holding hands and spending time with their family. He was a member of the LDS church and served faithfully in his callings. He loved visiting the temple as often as he could.

He is survived by his daughters - Mona (Blake) Bennington, Karla (Brad) Rickards, Tamra Holmes, Conie (Allen) Krall, 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eternal companion Dorothy, his parents, his daughter Nanette, his son-in-law Rex, 3 great-grandchildren and 3 sisters (Jean, Beulah Mae and Jolene).

We are thankful for the care he received from CNS Homecare and Hospice, especially Carrie, Tyler and Kim.
