Weta Frances “Sissy” Manning passed away on June 9, 2018, surrounded by family after succumbing to malignant mesothelioma. She was born February 4, 1944 to William Callis and Mary Margaret Manning in Jacksonville, Florida. She spent her childhood years growing up in Jacksonville where everyone called her Sissy. She graduated from Jacksonville’s Technical High School in Business Education. She worked at Knight Paper Company in Accounting for several years after graduating.
In the summer of 1969 she moved to Brigham City, Utah. She worked at Thiokol Corporation in Finance and Accounting over 20 years. She also worked for Autoliv prior to retiring.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As a young woman she participated in many church activities, such as, dances, playing basketball and softball. She held a variety of church positions through the years including coaching sports activities in the young women’s organizations and being a teacher in the Primary and nursery organizations.
Weta never married or had children of her own. She was totally devoted to spending time with and helping her family. At a very young adult age, she took on the daunting task of raising her younger sister and taking care of her ailing mother. She always put her family’s needs before her own. She spent a lot of time taking care of her many nieces and nephews as well. Her family meant everything to her and she loved taking care of them.
She had loyal friends that brought her much joy and love throughout her life.
Weta loved to go to the beach, Kingsley Lake and the pool. She was an avid reader and movie goer. She enjoyed any and every kind of movie.
She is survived by her siblings: Norma Jean (Walter) Boxx, Larry George (Ginger) Manning and Hilda Denise (Jim) Rowland, sister-in-law, Bonnie Manning, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and loving Florida and Utah friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Marjorie Claire Dickey and William Callis Manning Jr.
