William Kerry Roberts, 70, passed away at home on Oct. 1, 2018 of congestive heart failure. He was born in Ogden, Utah to William Kenneth and Aggie Roberts.

Bill joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a teenager, graduated from Ben Lomond High School and served a mission in Mexico. He then graduated from Weber State College and earned a master’s degree from Murray State University. He completed additional postgraduate work at the University of Missouri and received his teaching credential from Fresno State University.

Bill married Janet Kearney in 1976 in Fresno, CA, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden, Utah Temple.

He was a Spanish teacher in the Ogden City District for 33 years and a coach of tennis and golf for 25+ years. He loved his students and players like family. Bill was named Teacher of the Year by the Ogden School District in 2001. He was the Ogden City Director of Tennis for over 20 years, and after retirement served 3 years as a volunteer, teaching English as a second language. His last job was working at El Monte Golf Course which he loved as he did all his previous work.

Bill was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many Ward and Stake callings throughout his life. He loved the Savior.

He loved golf, tennis, hiking, teaching Spanish and sharing those things with his friends, his students, and his players.

Bill is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janet, his children: Stephanie Reed (Rod Taylor) and Kenneth Reed, four granddaughters, two sisters: Peggy Thomas and Stacie (Walter) Morris, and two brothers: John Roberts and Kyle Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Aggie Roberts. Bill loved his family, including many nieces and nephews and their children.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A viewing will be held at the mortuary on Monday, October 15, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 11:45-12:45 p.m. prior to the service.
