Lucy Mary Valdez Gallegos

Lucy Mary Valdez Gallegos passed away on April 16, 2017, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on February 17, 1941 to Manuel Antonio and Teodora Arellano Valdez in Monte Vista, Colorado. She had lived in Ogden since the age of 10. She graduated from Ben Lomond High School and went to Weber State to study Social Work.

Lucy was a member of St. Mary's Parrish. She was involved with youth groups and was the Hispanic Youth Coordinator for the State of Utah. She retired from Weber Morgan Health Department and was very passionate about her work. She loved helping others, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and shared her love for God with everyone she met.

She is survived by her children; Angel Gallegos, Teresa Gallegos, Thomas Gallegos, and Teodorita (Justin Mendoza) Gallegos; her brothers; Bob Valdez and Gavino Valdez; 17 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters; Olivia Gonzales, Sally Gutterrez, and Valdena Valdez, and 3 brothers; Lee, Pete and Joe Valdez.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 514 24th Street, Ogden.
