Obituary

Marilyn K. Manning passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018.
She was the firstborn of her parents Vernon H. and Mary W. Kotter. Marilyn graduated from Box Elder High School. She continued her education at Brigham Young University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics. She was married to A. Milton Manning in the Logan Temple, September 11, 1953. Two children blessed their home: a son, Milton Kirt Manning and a daughter, Faye Manning.
Marilyn was widowed shortly before her daughter was born and spent the remainder of her life providing a home for her children. After graduating from BYU, she pursued a Master’s degree at the University of Minnesota.
She worked as a home economist for Utah Power and Light, traveling throughout Utah demonstrating the use of electricity to homemakers.
Marilyn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following her retirement, she served in the Family and Church History mission in Salt Lake City, pioneering the indexing program.
She was blessed with many talents, including handwork of any kind, she played the violin and piano, loved music, and had a beautiful alto voice.
She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and served as Captain of the Three Mile Creek camp in Brigham City.
She worked several years as a volunteer at Brigham City Community Hospital, providing beautiful floral arrangements for the gift shop and greeting patients upon their arrival for day surgeries.
She is survived by her children, Kirt (Sally) Manning, Mesa, Arizona, and Faye Manning of Bedford, Texas; three sisters: Dorothy (Loren) Sayer, Blackfoot, Idaho; Sharon (Daryl) Anderson, Gooding, Idaho; and Marjorie (Allen) Fife, Weiser, Idaho; and one brother, Frederick V. Kotter of Parker Lake, Arizona. She is survived by one granddaughter, Promise Manning, and two grandsons, L. Aaron and Tyler J. Crawford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Milton Manning, her parents, and two sisters: Joan (Phil) Jones, and Willetta (Robert) Oberg.
Services will be Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Perry 8th Ward Chapel, 658 W. 2250 S., Perry, UT.
Viewings will be Thursday, February 8th from 6-8pm. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Church.
Interment will be at the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden, Utah at 1:30 p.m.
